    Summary of Position:
    Responsible for administering the operation of the recreational programs within Minnetonka Aquatics in accordance with the guidelines set forth by Minnetonka Public Schools and USA Swimming and under the direction of the Director of Aquatics. This includes, but is not limited to, program scheduling, coordinating the effective and efficient execution of daily program operations, overseeing recreational staff development, and promoting improvement and growth in participants, staff, and the organization.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Design and implement the Minnetonka Aquatics recreational student curriculum; create individualized lesson plans for each class level, taking into account age of student and developmental needs. Continually update and improve curriculum and lesson plans based on personal observation of the program and feedback from instructors.
    • Design and implement an instructor training program. Train, supervise, and consistently evaluate instructors; provide feedback based on evaluations. Continually update and improve curriculum and lesson plans based on personal observation of the program, feedback from instructors, and the experiences of the students.
    • Schedule classes for each session based on program needs and available resources. Assign instructors to each class based on program needs and instructor availability. Add or remove classes as necessary based on program needs and participant requests. Effectively communicate in a timely manner with participants, instructors, other staff, and the Director of Aquatics.
    • Coordinate with the Director of Aquatics and other aquatics staff to ensure proper utilization of facility and collaboration with other programs.
    • Implement educational and marketing events and maintain local and national partnerships to serve the community and promote Minnetonka Aquatics in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Director of Aquatics.
    • Collaborate with clerical staff to ensure that all information on the program website is accurate and up to date including registration information, session dates and class times. Instruct clerical staff in management of billing inquiries and ensure chart of accounts is accurate.
    • Assist Director of Aquatics in developing Minnetonka recreational programs and policies.
    • Hire and supervise all Minnetonka recreational programs employees including, but not limited to, instructors, lifeguards, building supervisors, and on deck coordinators.
    • Conduct mid and end session parent evaluations.
    • Work with Director of Aquatics for lifeguarding needs for the district including training, scheduling, and related tasks.
    • Work with Director of Aquatics to determine equipment needs, purchase equipment, and care for equipment.
    • Collect time sheets from employees and assist Director of Aquatics with payroll issues.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
    • Experience in Aquatics as an instructor, coach, or administrator for at least 2 years.
    • Current certification in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and public relations skills.
    • Evidence of passion for working with children.
    • Evidence of positive interpersonal skills; ability to relate to both children and adults.
    • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in water safety surveillance techniques.
    • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

    Assignment Details:
    Full-time, full-year assignment with variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
    Salary range is $50,000-$60,000, with actual placement depending on experience and qualifications.
