Production Lead

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The lead works at the direction of the production supervisor in support of the assigned production line(s). This position has responsibility for food safety and quality within their scope of influence.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provides input to supervisor in decision making that has a direct impact on the efficiency on the production line(s).
• Assists machine operators and production line employees with machine and areas set-ups before starting production.
• Collaborates with other departments such a Maintenance, Quality, and Warehouse as needed.
• Assists all operators and maintenance personnel in troubleshooting equipment.
• Documents line operation, performance, and down time throughout the shift.
• Conducts quality or food safety checks such as the operation of the metal detectors and checkweighers, and compliance with product specifications.
• Relieves all operators for Lunch and Breaks when needed.
• Communicates to supervisor, or appropriate member of management, any deviations to established procedures, policies, or to product specifications.
• Follows all company policies including but not limited to general manufacturing and safety practices.
• Provides support in the onboarding process of new hires, or employees transferred to the assigned production line(s).
• Ensures that production schedule is followed, and that all necessary and correct raw materials and packaging materials are utilized for each production run.
• Provides support to the assigned production line(s) to ensure maximum efficiencies can be met.
• Provides support to production line employees to ensure all applicable PPE is available and utilized, and to ensure safety protocols are met. Communicates any concerns to production supervisor or applicable management members if additional support is necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES)

• High School Diploma or GED
• Operational knowledge of production machinery or equipment.
• Prior related work experience in food manufacturing industry preferred.
• Must be able to follow operations, safety, and quality procedures and rules.
• Must be able to read, comprehend, and follow directions or instructions.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, climb, and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift.
• Must have appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly use various equipment and/or tools.
• Ability to load, unload, lift or move equipment which may weigh up to 50 lbs.
