Perks & Benefits:

Location:
3584 Utrecht Oost

We are looking for an energetic Project Assistant to join our team at the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht. In this role, you will handle administrative tasks within a scientific setting and act as the central link between various international organizations involved.

You will be responsible for ensuring optimal collection of liquid biopsy samples at all different time points in all European centres. You will be the first point of contact overseeing the real time monitoring of sample collection across 28 countries, involving 800 patients, 9 sampling time points and 10 different fraction types.

Your responsibilities will include:

As a Project Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our international studies and initiatives. Your responsibilities will include coordinating and editing laboratory manuals, collecting and processing sample data, and providing clear advice based on your findings. You will manage logistics, such as overseeing inventory and coordinating the shipment of materials like PAX tubes to international partners.

You’ll organize and facilitate meetings, both locally and internationally, including scheduling, drafting agendas, and taking minutes. You’ll also serve as a central point of contact for project-related queries and ensure all relevant documents and protocols are up to date. Additionally, you’ll support working groups by managing communication, coordinating processes like elections, and gathering letters of support for research projects.

Event organization will also be part of your role, such as assisting with international meetings, sending invitations, creating programs, and liaising with event managers. Finally, you’ll take on various ad hoc tasks depending on your skills and interests, such as helping to organize retreats or contributing to other internal projects.

Profile

This is a hands-on role that requires strong organizational and communication skills, as you will be the central point of coordination. It’s important that you are comfortable with executing tasks rather than overseeing projects at a high level. Good stakeholder management is essential, as is the ability to sense when a nuanced approach is needed to align different perspectives. You’ll also need to persistently follow up and apply subtle pressure to keep things moving forward.

Additionally, you will have:

  • An HBO or master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • You understand how the academic world works, enjoy immersing yourself in it, and are eager to make it your own.

Our job offer

We offer a fulltime position (36 hours per week) in a vibrant international multidisciplinary scientific environment. You will initially be appointed for a period of 1 year with a possible extension. Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience and background, starting in scale 45 with a maximum of €4.015,- gross a month based on a fulltime position (36 hours). You also receive 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and 8,33 % end-of-year bonus. The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labour agreement ‘cao algemene ziekenhuizen’.

Work environment

At the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology we work together every day in a groundbreaking and passionate way to improve the survival rate and quality of life of children with cancer. We do this for the patients in the Netherlands, but also via international collaboration. Specifically for patients with a neuroblastoma, we collaborate with the European SIOPEN group (The International Society of Paediatric Oncology Europe Neuroblastoma). Neuroblastoma is a rare form of pediatric cancer, that can be very aggressive, in the high-risk form. Within the SIOPEN, patients with high-risk disease are being treated in the international HR-NBL 2 trial. The SIOPEN Liquid Biopsy committee has the goal to facilitate the collection of liquid biopsy samples to compare and validate which biomarkers are clinical decision making for adoption in future trials and the clinic. This job is a collaborative project between the research group of Dr. Lieve Tytgat, and the SIOPEN liquid biopsy committee. You will be based in the Princes Maxima Center.
