Your personal sphere of play:

As a Senior Scientist, you will be an integral part of the Neuromechanics Research Group, led by Dr. Hans Kainz. Based at the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports (Auf der Schmelz 6a, 1150 Vienna), our team focuses on multi-scale simulations to enhance the understanding of typical and pathological movement development. We collect and analyze three-dimensional motion capture data and medical images from various groups, including clinical populations, healthy people and elite athletes. Our goal is to improve clinical decision making in people with movement disorders, enhance evidence-based motor rehabilitation after injuries or orthopedic interventions and increase our fundamental understanding of how musculoskeletal loads influence the adaptation of biological structures.
In your function as a Senior Scientist, it is expected that you perform and promote research activities on different levels, which includes developing project ideas, conducting your own research in line with the vision of the research group, supervising students, coordinating projects and participate in international conferences. You will also be involved in teaching activities.

The position is initially limited to 12 months and can be converted to permanent upon mutual agreement.

Your future tasks:

Research & Innovation:
  • Advance and lead the development of the sport science research line of the Neuromechanics Research Group.
  • Conduct cutting-edge research aligned with the group's vision.
  • Lead and contribute to scientific publications and project proposals.
Supervision & Teaching:
  • (Co-) Supervise BSc, MSc, and PhD students, guiding them through experimental data collection, analysis, and in-silico simulations.
  • Contribute to teaching activities within the department.
Collaboration & Project Management:
  • Work closely with researchers, athletes and clinicans from various fields to develop new project ideas.
  • Participate in international conferences to present research findings.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our state-of-the-art biomechanics laboratory.
  • Take on administrative duties as needed.
