We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Biomedical Scientist to support the introduction and implementation of new analytical equipment within our Blood Sciences Laboratory. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic laboratory setting, contributing to the modernisation and enhancement of diagnostic services.

The successful candidate will assist senior scientists in validating and verifying new equipment, performing comparative studies, documenting processes, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards. They will support the maintenance of the current service during this transitional period.

This position is ideal for a trainee looking to develop their technical and analytical skills while playing a key role in service improvement within a clinical laboratory environment.

The successful candidate will have:
A good understanding of a Blood Sciences Department
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Willingness to learn and develop new skills

The post holder will be responsible for performing a range of scientific procedures, under the supervision of HCPC registered Scientists, on biological samples that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and to develop and maintain competency in all sections of the Blood Sciences Laboratory as required: Anticoagulation, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Immunology.

A 24/7 service is provided for Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. Therefore the post holder may be required to contribute to this including weekend and Bank Holiday shifts.

Located on the border with Wales in the shadow of the Black Mountains, we provide acute and community services across Herefordshire and into parts of Powys and run Hereford County Hospital and the community hospitals in Bromyard, Leominster and Ross-on-Wye.

Worcestershire is our neighbouring county. The post holder will be required to travel between sites.
