Job Summary
The Vice President (VP), Operations has overall leadership responsibility for plant Operations including Cardbody Production, Chip Milling & Embedding, Service Bureau (Personalization and Fulfillment), Scheduling, Engineering and Maintenance. They will drive continuous operational improvements while implementing new hardware and software solutions to elevate the Operations to best in class status in the industry. They will represent G+D Canada in all operational matters and be a key contributor to the Regional and Global Operational activities. The mandate of the Vice President Operations is to provide strong local leadership and oversight, enhance product and service offerings and significantly improve overall operational effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, direct and develop all Supply Chain activities across multiple business lines in a 24/7 operational environment compromised of a Production Team of over 375 personnel (full-time and agency).
- Responsible for the strategic operational positioning and readiness for the local delivery of card manufacturing and personalization technologies with a focus and commitment to the achievement of key performance and profitability targets. Activities include S&OP, Operational budget preparation, capacity planning and Industry 4.0 development opportunities relating to the Production processes.
- Strong focus on the development and implementation of continuous productivity improvements. Activities include building on existing KPI's with an emphasis on Lean manufacturing techniques including 5S, value stream mapping, Kaizan, Six Sigma, etc.
- Guide the development and implementation of Operational policies and procedures consistent with those of the G+D Group and applicable governing authorities with an emphasis on being fully adaptable and flexible with the nuances and demand of the market. Activities include the ongoing analysis and preparation of operational requirements and business recommendations including business case preparation.
- Review, interpret and take decisive action on financial and operational information; coordinate and develop periodic operational analysis with a keen focus on improving accountability and efficiency. Contribute operational data to the preparation of profit and loss reports for General and Corporate Management.
- Represent the company and interact with customers for all Operational related issues; participate in the preparation of tender responses and contract reviews.
- Effectively integrate the local Supply Chain into the G+D matrix organization involving both Regional Operations(ROPS) and various GDM Global functions. Activities include operational representation for all local requirements/market demands.
Qualifications:
- A results oriented individual with comprehensive and diverse leadership experience in all aspects of Supply Chain Management in a multinational manufacturing environment supporting multiple business lines.
- Proven track record of managing internal customer relationships in an matrix organization comprised of strong business leaders. An emphasis on collaboration and organizational awareness to ensure quick and decisive decision making.
- Proven experience in improving productivity and operational effectiveness through the examination and re-engineering of operational activities. Activities include the development and implementation of new strategies and procedures consistent with Lean manufacturing and design to cost best practices.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen supported through a sound knowledge of management principles and practices with a thorough understanding and proficiency in operational budgeting, capacity planning, scheduling and workflow processes.
- Active participation as a member of the senior leadership team bringing an operational perspective to all aspects of managing the enterprise.
- Adept at developing and sustaining positive and constructive workforce relationships.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within the manufacturing sector e.g. Environmental, Health & Safety standards
- Demonstrates the ability to manage a network of interconnected businesses and processes involved in the provision of products and services.
- Strong understanding of all management activities carried out in the course of running an organization and the disciplines of budgeting, planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific goals and objectives.
- Accurately identifies risks affecting the supply, transformation and delivery of products and services to meet customer demand. Develops strategies to analyze the probability and control the impact of the identified risks.
- Practices goal oriented thinking. The process involves the ability to map alternate courses of action, identify associated critical success factors, assess the likely outcomes and consequences of the actions, and chose the best course.
- Capacity to think in careful and discerning ways to solve problems, analyze data and to recall and apply information.
- Understands the systematic approach to closing process and system performance gaps through streamlining, cycle reduction, elimination of quality defects, and reduction of process variation / non value adding activities.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and motivation of a team and understands the dynamics of effective teamwork in order to attain higher levels of performance.

- 10+ years of Leadership experience at the Senior Management level in the manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement implementations.
- Postgraduate education in Business, Engineering or Operational Management discipline or equivalent job experience.
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent an asset.
- On-Site Role
- Occasional Travel will be required
