Cafe Assistant/Barista

As an important member of our RAMP (Real Art Make Print) team, our Café Assistants are the first point of contact for Real Ideas members and visitors to Ocean Studios and play a vital role in ensuring everyone receives an amazing customer experience and is welcomed with a smile and positive attitude.
Our Café Assistants are responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining high standards of food and drink quality, café cleanliness and café operations. As they are the first point of contact for RAMP they must always maintain the highest possible level of customer service to ensure total customer satisfaction.
In this role your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Making and serving hot and cold beverages and food
- Delivering great customer service, providing an informative, cheerful, and positive welcome to everyone who comes into Ocean Studios.
- Uphold Real Ideas Health and Safety procedures and ensure that food and hygiene standards are always maintained to the highest possible standards according to SFBB guidance and protocols
- Respond promptly and professionally to any customer enquiries e.g. feedback, comments, or complaints.
- Ensuring the café is fully stocked and can always meet the menu, notifying the Café & Events Supervisor of any shortages.
- Clean and maintain spaces used by the customers (inside and outdoors) and ensure they are always safe and hygienic.
- Check that all café facilities, equipment, and furnishings are in good order and report any damage promptly.
- Support sales and check-ins of tickets for the events organised by RAMP.
- Follow the established operational plan, opening and closing times and setting up and clearing down as required.
- Support the completion of daily financial & operational procedures, including monitoring expenditure, stock, wastage, and use-by dates, post and deliveries.
- Be familiar and up to date with all required training, policies, and procedures.
- Use your initiative to respond quickly to issues or challenges that may arise when you are on duty.
- Support events, experience delivery, and facilitation, including set up and take down.
