Community Support Worker - Te Whakawhitinga

- helps a person identify their goals and aspirations that will achieve mauri ora
- supports access to community resources and services that will meet these goals
- works in close partnership with tangata hāpori/tangata whaiora and other agencies in a transparent and coordinated way.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
- An experienced community support worker.
- Ability to follow direction from registered staff to enthusiastically offer practical support for tangata hāpori/ tangata whaiora to achieve good health and social outcomes.
- Excellent rapport and relationship building skills.
- Whanau centred, collaborative and partnership approach.
- Non-judgemental and empathetic.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience working in a mental health, community health or primary care setting.
- Experience working with Māori and Pasifika groups.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiation skills including demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships with colleagues to achieve required outcomes.
