The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and promoting sustainability initiatives, particularly in the areas of the built environment, energy, solid waste/recycling, water, and alternative transportation. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Sustainability.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance sustainability across RTI’s real estate portfolio

  • Manage existing and new initiatives to promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable transportation

  • Identify opportunities to incorporate environmentally-preferrable materials and practices into building design and operations

  • Monitor environmental performance metrics and track progress towards RTI’s sustainability goals

  • Educate employees about sustainability and promotes RTI’s growing culture of sustainability Secondary

  • Support ongoing monthly communications and engagement efforts for RTI Sustainability program

  • Help maintain relevant sustainability information on RTI Intranet (“Insider”)

  • Compile data from various RTI departments to support tracking of key metrics

  • Contribute data and analysis for annual GHG inventory across all three reporting scopes

  • Prepare educational materials and environmental awareness campaigns for different RTI audiences

  • Contribute ideas and support to event planning teams for sustainability-related events

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of experience, Master's degree and 0 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including correspondence, personal, telephonic and electronic means.

  • Understanding of Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) standards and sustainability reporting frameworks

  • Ability to gain knowledge of RTI personnel and research centers and build relationships with business leaders, Facilities personnel, committee members, and volunteers

  • Proficiency in sustainable strategies including green building, energy efficiency, water and energy conservation programs, and waste minimization programs

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Must be able to handle/manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete them within established deadlines

  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service to RTI’s internal staff and external clients

  • Ability to adjust to priorities and manage time wisely

  • Ability to maintain records and documentation

  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner and listen attentively to others, understand materials an provide guidance

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.

RTI considers multiple factors when making an offer including, for example: established salary range, internal budget, business needs, and education and years of work experience possessed by the applicant. Further, salary is merely one element to our offer.
