Essential Job Functions for Dispatch (Mining/Crushing Quarry Environment )

A Dispatcher plays a crucial role in coordinating the efficient movement of trucks, materials, and information. This individual should have at least 1 to 2 years of logistics experience and will report to the Dispatch Manager.

Communication and Coordination:

• Act as the central hub of communication, coordinating activities between truck drivers, loaders, plant operators, and other personnel within the company.
• Receiving and processing customer orders for various rock products (gravel, pebbles, etc.).
• Dispatching trucks to designated loading areas based on order requirements and equipment availability.
• Communicating loading instructions and weight limits to truck drivers.
• Coordinating with loader operators to ensure efficient loading of trucks and minimize wait times.
• Monitoring truck traffic flow within the company and directing drivers as needed to avoid congestion.

Logistics and Scheduling:

• Plan and schedule truck arrivals and departures to optimize loading efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Creating and maintaining loading schedules based on production capacity and customer demands.
• Communicating with haul truck drivers or trucking companies regarding arrival times and expected turnaround times.
• Adjusting schedules as needed to address any unexpected delays or changes in production or customer orders.

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of carrier movements, including:
• Customer order entry details (type and quantity of rock products).
• Truck identification numbers and driver information.
• Loading times and quantities of materials loaded onto each truck.
• May utilize dispatch software to track truck movements and generate reports.

Customer Service:

• Provide courteous and professional service to truck drivers by answering questions, addressing concerns, and resolving any loading or scheduling issues that may arise.

Safety and Security:

• Enforce safety protocols by ensuring truck drivers follow proper procedures while loading and adhere to weight limits.
• Monitor the company for any safety hazards and report them to the appropriate personnel.

Additional Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various personnel within the company and truck drivers.
• Excellent organizational and scheduling skills to manage multiple tasks and keep track of truck movements.
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions to address unexpected situations or scheduling changes.
• Proficiency in using dispatch software or other relevant computer programs. Excel, Google Maps, Database
• Understanding basic company operations and different rock products may be beneficial.
