Food Service Worker

Duties
- Serve food cafeteria style according to request from patron.
- Prepare food and beverages according to operating procedures.
- Review Patient Nourishment Inventory for preparation and delivery to wards.
- Fill beverage dispensers and stock items when necessary, according to instructions.
- Lift or move equipment as needed to perform daily duties.
- Perform heavy sanitary work in kitchen and dining area to maintain a healthy environment.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires access to a computer for training purposes.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common food service and food preparation tasks. I can transport/deliver meal trays to patients; set up cafeteria lines. I can operate cash collection systems for a food service department using a manual system or computerized cash registers. I can enter meal orders into a computer software program. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Physical Effort: Continuous walking, standing, bending and reaching are required. Guides automatic food carriers weighing a maximum of 1000 pounds up and down hallways and elevators. Lifts up to 40 pounds on occasions.
- Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted area with warm temperature in the winter and very hot temperatures in the summer. Uses and cleans electrical equipment such as food carriers and reach-in refrigerators requiring use of detergents. Is subject to falls on floors made slippery by spilled liquids and foods, burns, and extreme changes in temperatures from working area to service halls. These working conditions and hazards are considered normal and have been built into the grading standards for the occupation.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
