Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Quality Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join the Quality team located in New Orleans, LA.
This position will be supporting Space Launch Systems (SLS) program at Michoud Assembly Facility and be responsible for engineering drawing releases, supplier non-conformances (NCR), hardware and test evaluation results. This position will be working in a fast-paced production environment on 1st shift and will require intra-departmental communication and interfacing with customer and suppliers.
Successful candidates will have experience working in non-conformance reviews of suppliers, design reviews, releasing drawing and root cause and corrective action.
Position Responsibilities:
Level 2:
- Researches contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements for applicability to specific proposals and program processes and documentation.
- Develops sections of quality metrics, design and production certification plans to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
- Analyzes capability assessments to support supplier selection activities.
- Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
- Performs data analysis to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
- Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
- Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Compiles performance reports and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
- Works under General supervision.
Level 3:
- Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
- Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
- Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
- Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
- Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
- Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
- Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
- Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
- Works under general direction.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited course of engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- Experience documenting corrective actions and non-conformance
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, 3D models, wiring diagrams, and/or interface control documents
- Experience interfacing with suppliers
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 3: 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Experience interfacing with suppliers
- Experience with AS9100 and/or other similar QMS standard
Typical Education & Experience:
Level 2:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Level 3:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for associate level (Level 2): USD 73,100 – 98,900
Summary pay range for mid-level (Level 3): USD 88,400 – 119,600
