School Travel Coordinator

We have the opportunity for two individuals to join our City Transport team as School Travel Coordinators in fixed-term roles until June 2027.
This is a hands-on community facing role focused on engaging with schools to help create safer school travel environments. If you are an organised self-starter who wants to make a difference in your community then this could be the role for you.
What will I be doing?
- Effectively managing relationships to understand school traffic and safety issues and the barriers to active travel
- Developing and reviewing school travel plans to assist schools to adopt a safe and sustainable approach to school travel
- Respond to school related road safety and or parking issues and support city wide campaigns to address congestion
- An understanding of Council’s transport strategy ‘Access Hamilton – Ara Kootuitui Kirikiriroa’ and how it links to school travel
- Collect and evaluate relevant data to provide recommendations on future programme development and implementation
What skills and experience do I need?
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in education, health promotion or marketing
- Broad knowledge of road safety and sustainable transport issues
- A doer, who can self-manage and work autonomously.
- A good communicator that can establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the schools and community.
- Able to collate data to create baseline data required for this project.
