Community Child Weight Management Nutritionist

Increasing the identification and intervention of children aged 5-17.5 yrs who are identified as overweight or very overweight as per NCMP data on record with school nurses Rapidly identifying those severely overweight or with multiple complex needs to ensure they are appropriately managed in secondary care Improving engagement of local schools, child focused community groups, and primary care services with the new child weight management pathway, alongside the Healthy Schools Lead. Exploring development of further relationships within secondary care including paediatrics or dentistry Keeping the service in the local consciousness by engaging with the GPs we support through Primary Care Network meetings and one to one visits, possibly providing some training on child weight management and its pathways to individual GP practices. Organising, attending, and hosting community-based events focused on providing proactive dietary and exercise-based information. In some cases, events may focus on preventative support.

Developing resources including recipes, exercise guidance, content for flyers leaflets, or slides, child and family friendly activities, and more. Providing group health, diet, exercise and nutrition sessions covering various related topics. Supporting social prescribers to signpost patients and their families to local voluntary sectors Helping to identify, develop, and facilitate lifestyle intervention programmes This is an exciting opportunity for Haringey to lead transformational work to improve the health and wellbeing of the school age population. The role will require a motivated individual who is keen to make change in an area faced with vast health inequalities.

The role will be both office based and patient facing, the latter taking place in primary care, educational establishments and community centres.
