Job Summary/ Key Responsibilities:
Ensures equipment is maintained and repaired according to company guidelines and in a timely manner. Act as a support to the Maintenance and Repair Manager throughout the entire damage and repair cycle, while efficiently coordinating the termination of empty damaged equipment at designated locations.
Key duties & responsibilities
- Audits vendor inventory reports for accuracy, initiating corrective action, following up to ensure compliance, recap, and report results to the M&R Manager.
- Coordinates the termination process for empty damaged equipment at specified locations, ensuring smooth logistics and adherence to company protocols.
- Maintains up-to-date records of equipment status in MSC systems such as LINK and OVD, facilitating streamlined communication and operations.
- Develops and maintains detailed reports, tracking equipment status and repair costs, and providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Collects supporting documents for third-party rebills related to damaged equipment, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Generates third-party invoices for damaged equipment, meticulously verifying all damages for accurate rebilling.
- Proactively handles any additional duties delegated by the manager.
Qualifications & Key Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics or closely related field or equivalent experience
- General knowledge of ocean shipping and equipment
- Minimum 1 year experience on maintenance & repair, including: reefers, gen sets, equipment etc.
- English: advanced
- Strong attention to detail
- Organized, efficient, and able to manage time effectively
- Strong customer service mindset, focused, and responsive
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Great team player
- Knowledge of MS Excel with the ability to learn new software
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
- Some travel and field work will be required locally in Chicago or in surrounding Midwest Region at depots, rail yards, etc.
- Occasional long-term standing, walking on uneven ground, indoors and outdoors, in varying climate conditions etc.
- Ability to wear the proper PPE while visiting depots, rail yards, etc.
Required certifications and licenses
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
