Position Highlights

The Economics Program Coordinator will maintain records and manages transactions related to the smooth functioning of the Department of Economics' doctoral and master's graduate programs, under the supervision of the department's Program Coordinator, Senior. Meets internal deadlines as assigned for program admissions, student hiring, and program events. Provides excellent outreach and communications regarding tracking program inquiries and reaching out to students through email, telephone, and social media. Supports department operations including printer and copier oversight, ordering supplies, assisting in arrangements related to the department's Seminar Series guest speakers, and answering general office inquiries made by callers or visitors under the supervision of the Administrative Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Undergraduate Program and Graduate Programs:

  • Provide administrative assistance to the Program Coordinator, Senior for these programs directed.
  • Help manage registration and enrollments, as well as curriculum changes for Economics students as directed, meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain relations with Economics BA and Business Economics advisors and students.
  • Maintain different departmental emails and respond to inquiries about these programs.

Administrative Assistance in Department of Economics:

  • Provide phone coverage as needed for the general department telephone number, and gracious assistance to walk-ins to the department.
  • Maintain department copiers and printers, ordering toner and paper as needed, managing repair calls and communication with department on machine status, as needed.
  • Manage department orders for supplies and equipment, as well as the surplus process as needed; monitor and change out recycle bins, as needed.
  • Create, submit department reimbursement transactions, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrative Manager.

Administrative Assistance for Department Seminar Series:

  • Greet guest speakers in department, collect their travel reimbursement and visa information as needed, at direction of Administrative Manager.
  • Print speaker's seminar paper for attendees if requested; create/post flyers in department and on department announcement monitor.
  • Open seminar room, set up speaker and computer/projector; count attendees.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.
